U.S. health agencies are resuming a children’s vaccine safety task force targeting anti-vaccine activists to rebuild a group pressure.
Health and Human Services (HHS) said in a statement that it is resuming recovery for the safer Children’s Vaccines Task Force – dissolved in 1998 – “improving the safety, quality and supervision of vaccines administered to children in the United States.”
The agency said the task force will provide advice on children’s vaccines, “There is less response to childhood vaccines than the ones currently on the market.”
This is the latest move by Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy JR to review the U.S. children’s vaccine schedule.
The recovery panel’s recovery comes after Kennedy established a child health defense for an anti-vaccine organization that provided litigation for his administration in May when the task force was not re-established.
The leader of the child health defense spreads the errors in the vaccine, and he praised the group’s news.
“It took HHS nearly 50 years, but finally, the secretary obeyed the law on this critical issue,” wrote CEO Mary Holland. “We are grateful.”
The National Chilthood Hawhood Act was passed in 1986 to create a safer vaccine task force for children to compensate children who have adverse effects on certain vaccines.
The task force will include members of the National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, HHS said.
Since taking office, Kennedy has made many changes to the agency’s vaccine policy.
In June, he deleted all members of the Federal Independent Expert Committee who made recommendations on the immunization and when to receive it. He replaced the panel with new members, many of whom are vaccine skeptics and criticized Covid-19 shooting.
Shortly after his new team was called, they announced that they would review the health impact of the children’s vaccination schedule.
In May, Kennedy also canceled the CDC’s recommendation for COVID-19 vaccines for pregnant women and healthy children.
