Anti-ice protests and riots in Los Angeles have conducted further scrutiny of militant groups, including the Los Angeles Humanitarian Immigration Rights Alliance, the Socialist and Liberation Party, and Union Del Barrio.
According to CBS News, Chirla and other groups have now conducted an investigation by Senator Josh Hawley through the Senate Judicial Crime and Counter-Terrorism Panel, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said the Internal Revenue Service is looking at any possible funding for “violence”.
Hawley sent a letter to the group for “suspected to play a role in financing and amid major support for the protests and riots that devour Los Angeles.”

“The reliable report now shows that your organization has provided logistical support and financial resources to individuals engaged in these destructive actions,” Hawley wrote in the letter. “Let me be clear: funding for civil unrest is not protected speech.
Chirla Executive Director Angelica Saras During a press conference with Mayor Karen Bass on Thursday, he denounced the ice sweeping in Los Angeles, adding that Republicans “say who we are, what we do and what we do.”
“Yes, we’ve received a letter from Senator Josh Hawley. But what I want you to know is that it won’t stop us, it won’t let us intimidate us to stand with the immigrant community,” Salas said.

The team runs a “fast response network” that Salas mentioned in a press conference that the region recently conducted ice arrests in the area.
“Yesterday, our raided Rapid Response Network didn’t stop answering calls until 7 p.m.,” Salas said. “So, there are two reports. It’s also scared of the community. So, even if they’re not in the enforcement site, what’s going on is that they’re witnessing everything.”

According to its website, Chirla operates a “deported” legal team along with other immigration resources.
The organization’s website says on its mission page: “Chirla relies on the love and vision of our community to organize and build power among people, institutions and organizations to transform public opinion and develop progressive policies that promote the rights of people, citizens and labor for everyone.”

The FBI told Fox News earlier this week that if any evidence of a criminal conspiracy emerged, they would study it.

Obviously, evidence of any criminal conspiracy will be investigated.”
