Los Angeles police found American Idol music director Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas DeLuca died Monday at his Encino home, and authorities are investigating the double homicide.
Officials told Celebrity News Website after responding to a nearby welfare check TMZfirst reported the news, they found blood outside the couple’s $4.5 million home. Inside, police found the bodies of Kaye and Deluca in a separate room, with gunshot wounds, NBC Los Angeles Report, citing police statements.
Police responded to reports of theft at Encino’s home, but said in a press release that “there is no sign of forced entry or trouble.”
Police added that they arrested the suspects in connection with the couple’s death. Officials said on July 10, Raymond Boodarian, 22, allegedly attempted to steal the couple’s home and then killed Kaye and DeLuca, when the couple walked into him, Associated Press Report.
A spokesman for American Idol confirmed the couple’s death in a statement to the Associated Press, adding: “Robin has been the cornerstone of the idol family since 2009 and is truly loved and respected by everyone she comes into contact with.”
“Robin will always be in our hearts and we express our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time,” an idol spokesperson said.
Kaye and Deluca are both 70 years old and active in the music industry in Los Angeles. According to IMDB, Kaye has worked for 15 seasons as an idol’s music producer, as well as shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Miss Universe and Singing Bees. Her husband, DeLuca, has worked as a singer, recorded her album Wire and Street Rock, and songwriters for Kid Rock, Micky Dolenz and Diesel.
