Secret Service Agents Describe “Textbook Ambush” – 11:52 AM ET
The government’s first witness, special agent Robert Fercano, testified on Thursday Ryan Routh On September 15, 2024, he was waiting at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach and aimed directly at his face.
Fercano is now conducting a homeland security investigation (but was a Secret Service agent at the time) said he was scanning the sixth hole while Trump hit the fifth hole for the fifth time when he noticed “several anomalies on the fence line.”
“It seems like there is a face, a barrel of weapons and what I think is a plate, like the Hummer plate I see in the Marines,” he told Justice Department Attorney Maria Medetis Long.
Fercano said he tried to contact: “Hey sir,” he shouted. After a moment he noticed the barrel of the rifle began to move, heard “things that sounded like gro” and saw the man’s smile, he testified.
Felcano said at first he thought it might be a homeless person. But Fercano claimed the barrel followed his movements and he saw the plate hanging from the fence, looking like a temporary bulletproof shield.
“It seems to be a textbook ambush scene,” Fercano testified.
The juror also heard Fercano’s crazy radio call:
At 1:24 pm, “5 Green Tycoons on 5 Greens”, reminding Trump’s colleagues of the fifth hole.
Only 11 seconds later: “Shoot, shoot, shoot.”
“Note that it looks like an AK-47-style rifle pointed through a fence.”
Prosecutors then introduced the SKS rifle they said Rus used in China. Fercano wore black gloves and showed the jury 1-2 inches of the 1-2 inches barrel of the day.
Rolls is expected to cross-examine Fercano after the court’s break at 1:05 p.m. ET.
