A man was found living in the crawling space of a house near Portland, Oregon, without the knowledge of the owner.

The Clarkmas County Sheriff’s Office said the man had lived there for a long time, setting up a bed and light.

The master told the delegates that no one should live there, and they had heard “strange sounds” before.

Deputies found Beniamin Bucur, 40, in the crawl space and arrested him on charges of burglary and illegal possession of methamphetamine.

Later Wednesday night, a witness reported seeing a man not realizing they weren’t parking and then headed behind the housing complex in Happy Valley, a small city in southeast Portland.

Deputies noticed that the doors of the house’s crawling space were damaged and locked.

The police contacted the owner and tried to open the door with the master key, but they did not work. After forcing the space to open, they found Bukur.

Law enforcement said the burger “apparently lives inside” because the room has various electrical loads, including the power of chargers, TVs and lights inserted into the house and the bed.

The sheriff’s office said a meth pipe was also found during the search.

Bucur was booked to jail and his bail was set at $75,000 (£55,524).
