Trump announces Washington, DC, “crime-free zone”

Federal agents directed by the Trump administration arrested 70 people on Labor Day evening Washington, DCincluding 27 illegal immigrants and individuals accused of assault and stalking.
according to White House Officials, many arrested people have a previous criminal history, charges for driving when they violate, violate, fraud, burglary and voyeurism to their homes.
According to White House officials, one of the people arrested on Labor Day had been arrested for robbery for assaulting a 77-year-old woman and stealing her wallet. Another had been arrested for assaulting a police officer, and several of them were arrested for domestic violence, including suffocation victims, and controlled substances intended to be distributed.
According to officials, an arrested criminal was previously convicted of assault with a dangerous weapon and sentenced to 45 months in prison.

The arrests were conducted by more than 3,200 officials from 22 agencies.

On August 7, Trump declared a public safety emergency in the city and invoked Section 740 of the District of Columbia Family Rule Act to put the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) under federal control. He also deployed about 800 National Guards and reassigned federal agents from agencies such as ICE to patrol the city.
So far, 1,669 people have been arrested since the Trump administration’s intervention. Among those arrested in the operation, there are 16 known gang members, including members of MS-13 and the Tren de Aragua gang, who have been designated as “foreign terrorist organizations” State Council.

Five missing children were rescued due to federal operations. Additionally, the city has cleared 50 homeless camps and MPD is working with city officials to locate and clean up other camps.
In Sunday’s Truth Society post, Trump announced: “DC is now a crime-free area, only within 12 days!!!”
Trump praised Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser for working with his administration and said in a truth society position: “Wow! DC’s mayor Muriel Bowser has become very popular because she has reduced crime to almost nothing in DC with me and my great people,” he said.
Ball initially expressed concerns about Trump’s plans to fight crime in the national capital. However, the mayor acknowledged in a press conference last week that the federal surge had a significant impact on the city.

In the briefing, Bowser showed a chart to commend the influx of the FBI, DEA, ATF, U.S. Park Police and Capitol Police and in support of the MPD’s efforts, announcing: “We are very grateful for the surge in police officers who enhance what MPD can do in this city.”

Bowser’s office declined a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
