According to Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Scott Turner, the Trump administration has ordered a nationwide scrutiny of public housing to root illegal residents.
Turner wrote, Public Housing Administration There are 30 days to review to ensure that existing orders are executed. The department requires information about public housing units, as well as verifiable citizenship or “qualified immigration status.”
“Illegal foreigners will no longer be able to leave their citizen boxes empty or take advantage of HUD-funded housing, but ride hard-working American citizens,” Turner wrote.

“At present, HUD serves only one-quarter of eligible families only due to the lack of a ban on illegal federally funded foreign aid,” he continued.
If the program does not meet the request, it may be possible to “check” it yourself Federal Funding.
Turner said Friday the DC Housing Authority was the first to get attention but told more than 3,000 other PHAs nationwide that “U.S. citizens will be given priority.”

The move was praised by Republicans but doubted to others who say they might limit resources.

“It is already law-proof of citizenship is required by any public housing or Section 8 units. A second time, instant accounting will not provide large-scale corrections or evictions. It will only bring employees from serving American seniors, veterinarians, etc.,” former housing and urban development employee Cat Vielma posted.
In March, Turner and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem signed a memorandum of understanding to examine the surge in illegal immigration during the Biden administration to review public housing.

“The entire government will work together to determine the abuse and exploitation of the public interest and to ensure that those who are illegal are not receiving federal benefits or other financial incentives to stay illegally,” Noam said. “If you are an illegal immigrant, you should leave now. The gravy train is over.”
