The employee Elizabeth Baxter, a paralegal for the department’s environmental defense division, first reported his dismissal on Friday, according to a memo published by the New York Post.
“Depending on your misconduct against National Guard Service staff, your work with the Justice Department has been terminated and you will immediately remove federal service,” Bondy wrote in the memorandum.
Justice Department spokesman Chad Gilmartin shared the story on X and confirmed the report. Another spokesman, Gates McGarvick, also re-promoted it: “Very simple: @@agpambondi’s DOJ may not be suitable if you don’t support law enforcement.”
Reuters was unable to contact Baxter of the New York Post immediately, saying he raised the middle finger to members of the National Guard on August 18, and later devalued the troops.

In June, the Republican president ordered the Marines and National Guard to go to Los Angeles and threatened to send troops and federal officials to Chicago with the will of Democratic governors in California and Illinois.
Trump portrayed the U.S. capital as a city of crime, although the Justice Department data showed violent crime was at a 30-year low in Washington, a self-governed federal district under the jurisdiction of Congress.
The U.S. government also sent agents from numerous agencies, including the FBI, to patrol the streets of the capital.
The Trump administration has entered into a deal with Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser to put Police Chief Pamela Smith in charge of the department’s actions after the legal challenge raised by the New York City Attorney General.
