“Foreigners who promote or perpetuate illegal voting will face swift and serious consequences,” Tragesser added.

According to current U.S. Citizenship and Service guidelines, illegal immigrants must demonstrate good moral character (GMC) to obtain citizenship. The new guidelines, which will take effect on Friday afternoon, noted that attempts to circumvent voter laws or illegally claiming they are U.S. citizens would be a failure of the GMC requirement and prevent illegal immigrants from applying for citizenship.

Applications for passports and driver’s licenses will also prevent illegal immigrants from obtaining citizenship and initiate deportation procedures.
