Zohran Mamdani meets with representative Jeffries, Clarke, New York Democrats refuse to speak out

New York City Democratic Mayor nominee Zohran Mamdani On Tuesday, New York Democrats continued to withhold their representation before the November election, meeting with DN.Y. DN.Y. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and DN.Y. Rep. Yvette Clarke.

“Zohran joins Congresswoman Clarke and Congressman Jeffries to meet with black clergy in central Brooklyn,” Mamdani campaign spokesman Dora Pekec told Fox News.

Jeffries and Clarke are among the Democratic leaders, including Gov. Kathy Hochul and Senate Minority Leader Senate. Chuck Schumerafter the main win in June, Mamdani has not been recognized yet.

“They had extensive discussions on many issues, including the emergency affordability crisis and the exit of black New Yorkers in five boroughs, and Zohran shared his agenda to ensure that every New Yorker can afford the city and live the city’s home and live a dignified life,” Mamdani’s campaign said. ”

Tuesday’s meeting took place at a church in Bayford Stuvicent, Brooklyn, located in the heart of the Jeffries Congress District. Clarke, who also represents part of Brooklyn, is chair of the Black Congress caucus.

Jeffries Meet Mamdani Earlier this summer, House Minority Leaders had stopped recognizing self-proclaimed candidates for democratic socialism.

Jeffries confirmed to CNN’s ITU on Sunday that his plan to meet Mamdani this week, while reiterating that his first meeting with Mamdani in July was “very candid, constructive and community-focused”.

“I don’t think we’re retaining recognition,” Jeffries said. “We’re talking about the future of New York City, about issues that need to be addressed.”

Although neither Democrats endorsed Mandani after meeting Tuesday, other New York Democrats, including representatives. Alexandria Ocasio-CortezNydia Velázquez, Jerry Nadler and Adriano Espaillat have left their political weight behind the 33-year-old candidate.

Mamdani also headed to Washington, D.C. earlier this summer, with the mayor hope and Ocasio-Cortez hosting breakfast with the National Democrats. Mamdani met with several progressive leaders, including Senator Bernie Sanders, who was an early recognition of his campaign.

Nevertheless, Rep. Tom Suozzi, Democrats of New York, Dan Goldman, Gregory Meeks, Ritchie Torres, George Latimer and Grace Meng have not yet supported Mamdani.

Fox News Digital approached Jeffries and Clarke for comments, but received no immediate response.
