president Donald Trump His allies in Congress are working to consolidate his control over Washington, D.C.
Republicans are working with the White House to “solve many problems with DC governance and crime,” a leadership aide told Fox News on Tuesday.
Trump confirmed the effort almost at the late night Truth Society post Wednesday, noting that House and Senate leaders are “working with me and other Republicans to develop a comprehensive crime bill.”
“That’s what our country needs, now! There’s more,” Trump said.

Meanwhile, Republican House Trump allies have been taking various measures to expand the president’s control over the Washington, D.C. police, another source told Fox News that the White House is following.
Under the District of Columbia Housing Rule Act of 1973, local governments were established for the U.S. capital, among other measures, and the president was allowed to the federal DC police force within 48 hours, although it could be extended to 30 days and notified relevant congressional committees.
Any longer period must be authorized by resolutions adopted by the House and Senate – some of which have been provided by lawmakers when they return to their homes on holiday in August.
This behavior does not limit how long Trump can last Deploy federal forces However, he also made capital.

He told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that House GOP leadership seemed quite sure of his bill.

“I sent it to [House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La.] After we drafted it,” Ogles said. “He liked the offer, so when we came back we would classify various ideas and methods to see which one was the best. Obviously, I would advocate mine, but…whether keeping people safe. ”
Ogles noted that his bill, while getting rid of the 30-day limit, also requires the White House to notify Congress every 30 days to continue the federal government’s basis for DC police because “we still have a constitution we need to comply with.”
When Fox News Digital reached, Scalise’s office did not resolve Ogles’ bills.
Others, such as R-FLA. Anna Paulina Luna and R-Ariz. Andy Biggs also introduced a similar bill.
“I think there’s a lot of support for my bill, or version of it,” Luna told Fox News Digital. “The fact is, you know, we do have our own rule. It’s within our rights and authority. Frankly, we’re doing it not only for us, but for the actual civilians in Washington, D.C..”
Luna’s bill, like Ogles, will expand Trump’s capabilities for federal police for a period of time the president deems necessary.

Biggs’ bill will extend Trump’s possession of DC police for six months.
Since DC is a federal district, not a state, Congress and the federal government are able to put a lot of control over all aspects of how it works.

Homicides in Washington, D.C. have dropped sharply since Trump took over the city’s policing, while suggesting that other U.S. cities may soon see federal intervention in response to crime.
Those who object to this move, Democrats are mostly Democratsaccusing the Trump administration of depriving people living in the U.S. capital.
When asked to provide more information, a White House official told Fox News Numbers, “Efforts to address some of the root causes of DC crime will be topics of continued government concern, as well as other issues such as maintenance, transportation and beautification.”
“That includes working with governments at all levels, executive departments, legislative departments and Washington, D.C. to ensure that the capital of the greatest country on the planet is the world’s jealousy,” the official said.
