Some Immigration Group Conservative voices on social media expressed their opposition to the proposal.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-GA, R-GA. Posted on X Monday night. “If the refusal to allow these Chinese students to attend our schools would result in 15% of them failing, then these schools should fail because they are supported by the CCP.”

“Granting 600,000 student visas to Chinese nationals threatens to put foreign students ahead of U.S. graduates,” Joe Chatham, director of government relations at the American Federation of Immigration Reform, told Fox News Digital in a statement.

“The focus must now be on reforms to limit areas that are critical to our economy and national security, which have repeatedly become targets for corporate espionage and intellectual property theft rather than expanding opportunities for hostile countries. Education for foreign nationals should never be placed in the interests of American citizens and ensure the interests of our nation,” he continued.

“The president’s view is that if you don’t have 600,000 students, what will happen is that you’re going to empty them from the top and all students will go up to better schools, and the lowest 15% of colleges and universities will go bankrupt in the U.S..”

Lutnik added: “He is taking a reasonable economic perspective, which is classic Donald Trump.”

Many believe that free markets should play a role with these universities that may have potential financial risks.

“So, this is essentially a subsidy for the academic community. Get it. American universities don’t need a large number of foreign students to stay alive. If they can’t survive on U.S. enrollment, that puts them in a strait. Plus, Chinese students stole our research and sent it home.”

Conservative commentator Liz Wheeler released Trump’s White House, saying the Chinese students should be banned.

Wheeler posted on X: “Chinese ‘students’ are spies to the Chinese Communist Party. They were forced to be Chinese. They stole our intellectual property. They stole our technology. They stole our technology. They stole our army comfortably.” Wheeler posted on X.

“This is the stupidest explanation I’ve heard. Must turn the university down!” Wheeler said in response to Lutnik’s defense of Trump’s policy. “Their business instills students into hard revolutionary Marxists. If you want to save America, you have to razor the ground. You have to wash the university system. Absolute opportunity.”

Others agree with Lutnick’s view on the issue, saying it could actually help the United States bring more talent at home.

Podcast host Joshua Reid posted on X. : “It’s not as terrible as people say. Chinese students with American visas are not ordinary children. They represent the top Chinese youth.”

“On the other hand, we are hosting China’s future leaders, scientists and innovators. It also means that American culture comes home with them. When you start thinking about emerging technologies, it’s actually a good idea. It’s a good idea. Bring the top students in the United States. This is talent withdrawn from China and is now a state asset,” Reid added.
