Robbie Amell Have a feeling Upload The final season could have been a polarized season – but he was upset with saying goodbye to the series.
“I don’t think I have scripts [for the series finale] Until the day before the table,” Amell, 37, told US Weekly Before Season 4 released on Monday, August 25. “Sometimes, you try to show the emotions of things when you shoot them, and other times you want to not cry while reading the scene. [showrunner] Greg [Daniels’] Words are so beautiful. I didn’t expect a better way to end the show. ”
Since its debut in 2020, Amazon has portrayed the protagonist Nathan (all versions of him) in the Amazon Prime Video series, and he said it was “incredibly satisfying” to see how Daniels chose to end the story. He added: “It’s not that everyone will be happy, but I think it’s beautiful and it feels real. It feels right.”

Why did Nathan have to die in season 4 of “Upload”?

Provided by Primethat’s right, Upload Fans, Season 4 ends with Nathan’s physical death. As the body begins to fail, he decides that he cannot go through the process of downloading or uploading and dies naturally. But before he said goodbye to Nora, the couple exchanged vows at a virtual reality wedding.
For Amell, Nathan’s arc feels fitting, as the character is self-centered and futile lake view, ultimately becoming selfless due to Nora’s influence in her afterlife.
“The show started with Nathan being a little bit conceited and selfish, and then you have this romantic season between him and Nora and then the audience and Nathan discover at the same time that he might not be as good as he thought,” Amell explained to us. “I always thought it was an interesting question, ‘Are we our worst mistake? Did we make our mistakes in the past, or would people change?” And I think Nathan studied with Nora for a few seasons and spent some time, living a tough life and being another person. ”
Amell added that Nathan learns how to be “selfless” and “understand” at the end of the story.
“I thought Greg did it in a way that was real and felt profitable,” he said. “It’s someone who does anything to save himself in Season 1, and in Season 4, what matters to him is the happiness of the people he loves.”
Why can’t Nora and Nathan get their happy ending?
The series ends with Nora, still wearing her wedding ring, turned down a coffee date with a stranger for some time after Nathan’s death. In the final moments of the show, her ping on her iPad shows that it is now possible to download Nathan’s stored memories of the couple.
Amel told us Daniels actually explores “every different ending” before settling down on the people he considers to be the most loyal to the story” Upload Always talking.
“Look, it’s hard because some people want to be happy from now on.” “And I don’t think the show is never black and white. As far as everything goes, it’s a grey area. It’s a comedy, it’s a satire, it’s a drama, it’s a romance, it’s a science fiction, and I think it’s just the truest ending.”
Amel said the people he talks to have gone through the “stage” of emotions – from “crazy” to “sad” to “happiness” and beyond – it felt like a “satisfactory” way.
“It puts people in a closed position and you’re happy for the rest,” he added. “But I think everyone has their moments, whether they’re sad, happy or victory. Everyone gets it. I love it. I love it. I’m so with fans of the show and Greg’s fans, I just love the series finale.”
As for Ah Luo, she specifically told us She would “love” a happy “love” for Nora, but the ending chosen is the “beautiful” way to end the series.
“Because this is the beginning, [Nora] It’s all about uploading and trying to get her dad to upload and then fall in love with an uploaded guy. So now at the end, it’s like, ‘Oh, I don’t want to upload you again and do this. Actually, I’m glad you died from the truth. I think it’s a beautiful arc,” she said.
Why did Nathan and Ingrid get a happy ending?

Although the “real” Nathan and Nora are torn apart, “Clone” Nathan is the second version of the character, bringing back the emotional growth – making him get along with Ingrid. The couple was found living in a beachfront villa and starred in their own reality show after getting married.
“I mean, I think a Nathan needs to be happy, right?” Allo said when asked why “clone” Nathan survived. She noted that Ingrid had a “journey” and “do everything he could to save” Nathan, who ended up falling in love with Nora, so it was satisfying to see her find him again in some capacity.
“She had to keep going and then she got her version of Nathan, and he was all about her,” she explained. “I think it was perfect. We all got what we needed, not necessarily what we wanted. I like that.”
Why does Luke need to die?
Another shocking ending is Luke (Luke)Kevin Bigley) A Lakeview resident, former officer and Nathan’s post-BFF, who sacrificed himself to save the evil AI robots from his fellow uploads.
“I heard Kevin talked about this,” Amel explained, Luke’s shocking demise. “Luke is a veteran…it’s his backstory, he’s the ultimate best friend. Is there any way, or is his character out and sacrifice himself to save his friend’s other brave, heroic way? It’s such a beautiful, complete circle.”
Amell tells us that Kevin is not “crazy” because the moment was “beautiful” and therefore discovers the fate of the character. “That’s how it goes, he’s so good, he’s so flattering, but that’s one of the moments you’ll make some people like it, but at the same time, you like it, but that’s my guy!'” Amell said.
Nathan and Nora’s romantic goodbye is almost destroyed by ACDC
Despite Nathan and Nora’s bittersweet ending, the two fell into romantic moments before saying goodbye. After the knot, they went to almost where they wanted to attend the entire show in Montreal, Canada – sitting on a bench, all kinds of daily conversations with married couples would happen over the years.
“It’s one of those scenes I’ve read and then I texted Greg and I thought, ‘This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read. I love it.’ us Heartfelt moment.
However, due to weather issues, the scene has been repeatedly postponed again. Amell said he was already “worrying” that the words would become “old”, but it was really worse when a man on the nearby boat started bragging about ACDC during the filming process.
“I spent two hours in the sound booth trying to remake every note of that scene [in ADR],” Amell recalled with a smile. “I thank our voice department. They did such incredible work. You can’t say [in the final cut]but it was a nightmare. I think this guy’s ship is sunk so seriously. ”
Will Nathan and Nora reunite?

Robbie Amell, Andy Allo
Liane Henstcher /©Amazon / Everett CollectionAlthough Nathan and Nora were not together, Nora did receive a download file from Nathan’s memory on iPad. When asked whether Nora will lower Nathan into a new body in the future, Amell is doubtful – seeing it as a touching touch to the couple.
“I portray it as more because she can use to go back and see the best time,” he said. “I think that’s explainable, too. If I’m wearing Nora’s shoes, I have this thing, I miss someone else, I have a few cocktails, I might try to form a new guy. Let’s try it. Let’s try it. I’ll try it myself. I myself will myself. But I think it might end with a bad version.”
Meanwhile, Allo believes that Nora may bring her back after she lives alone.
“I think Nora continues to live her life, and whether she becomes an attorney advocating for misfortune, she is the activist. I imagine she lives a fulfilling life, maybe she has children and finds love again, and then at some point in her life, her husband disappears,” Alo said. “She’s been alive all her life. She’s still alive. She’s alone and she decides to rebuild Nathan, and now they both can end their lives and live in the last moments of any time she’s left.”
Can there be “upload” derivative products?
Talking about Upload Amell lives in some capacity, jokes that the “real” Nathan and Luke are both dead now and can have a “friend comedy” in real heaven.
“We have completed the digital afterlife. Now let’s see what the afterlife is, and they can reconnect,” he said with a smile. “Look, I’ll say, it’s Greg. If Greg was coming to me, it was like, “Is this idea derived?” great. I’ll go in. If it was Greg, there was no doubt. ”
Aluo also has a similar view. “Oh, I’m there. Listen, Greg called me, I’m in where anyone wants me. He has my heart.” “He changed my life, so I’m eternally grateful, and it’s a dream to continue working with him and bring his writing to life.”
