Officials said a bus carrying junior soccer team crashed in a game north of Pittsburgh, sending 28 people to 21 in the hospital.
Twenty-five Aliquippa junior high school students and three adults competed in a competition in nearby Gibsonia. The crash occurred in the Economic Borough about 20 miles north of Pittsburgh.
Economic Borough Police Chief Michael O’Brien said he had no information on the medical conditions of the hospital.
O’Brien said he understood the bus was turning sideways during the crash, but the bus was upright again as students evacuated the vehicle.
The police chief said the crash occurred in a difficult location on the road. “It’s on a bad turn,” O’Brien said. “The investigation is now being investigated to determine what’s going on.”
The Facebook page of Aliquippa Junior Football Team says every player is being evaluated and asks to “say or pray for every player or coach traveling this morning.”
