“I’m not saying we have vote bomb imp,” Kasten added. “I’m saying you wouldn’t do that without Congress’ approval.”

The call for impeachment is the most obvious and farthest representative of Trump’s anger against unilateral action against Iran.

Rep. Mike Lawler, a Republican in New York, criticized Ocasio-Cortez and other Democrats for impeachment calls in Sunday morning in an interview with Fox and Friends.

“It’s absolutely ridiculous for colleagues who are asking for impeachment now,” Lawler said. “Barack Obama attacked Libya, Syria, Pakistan, Yemen during his tenure and they never called for impeachment. So, after yesterday’s decision, these guys really reached new levels of Trump.”

Since 1941, Congress has not actually declared a war after its attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II, and legal scholars have long been divided on whether the president has the right to unilaterally launch a military strike.
