Emma Raducanu believes other Grand Slam tournaments should follow the U.S. Open lead and changed the format of the mixed doubles match after playing with Carlos Alcaraz this week.
This year, the U.S. Open controversially chose a major change to its mixed doubles title, moving it from its usual position to qualifying week from its remaining major draws and transferring admission conditions to make it very fond of singles players.
“I think it would be so fun if all the grand slams were involved and did something similar, even if it wasn’t the exact same format,” Rakanu said. “I think it was a huge success. I think a lot of fans were involved and a lot of people looked and looked at it. It got a lot of attention. I think it was a good idea. Yes, I had a lot of fun with Carlos in court.”
Since her, Radanu is still seeking her first victory Winning the U.S. Open in 2021. With all the pressure and expectations that followed her, the past few years have been very difficult. However, this year, the situation in Raducanu has changed a lot.
“I would say I really are a big difference from 2022,” she said. “When I came back in 2022, I really struggled. I didn’t like to be back here. I think it’s the first time I feel like I can go back to the US and really like the memories I’ve left here and be proud of it and see it as a happy place. So I’m so grateful and happy about it.”
Raducanu started the game against the qualifiers and she gained confidence by winning many games and gradually rebuilding her rankings. In her recent match, Lacanu launches No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka to tie seven in the third set In Cincinnati’s opening third round, he almost lost.
“I think the main thing is that I came to the U.S. in Washington, D.C. and I’ve been in the competition since then,” she said. “I did the semifinals there. Then I played a quick turnover in Montreal. I went to Cinthy, had a good game, and then played Aryna, and lost in three games. Over the last 10 days, I’ve done some good practice work. I just did the best I could. You never feel perfect, you never feel 100%, but I’ll do it.”
The U.S. Open will join her new coach Francisco Roig to mark Raducanu’s first Grand Slam Championship and second match. Roig, who was a member of his 22 Grand Slam titles, once played in doubles with the Spaniard, a topic that helped break the hockey between Raducanu and her new coach before they started working:
“It’s so funny because I’m playing in Montreal and I’m out. I think I just played Payton [Stearns]there is a good match, here it is. “I retired and won my only doubles game in that court. So, it’s like a good sign.”
Meanwhile, Fran Jones continued his breakthrough by defeating Arianne Hartono 6-2, 6-4 to get a major draw at the U.S. Open without leaving the game. Jones has dermal dysplasia (EED), a rare genetic condition that means she was born with a thumb and three fingers on each hand, and seven toes. The 24-year-old didn’t let her stop her from becoming an elite tennis player: Jones recently broke into the top 100 and rose to a career-high No. 84.
