Investigate Supreme Court leaks and special treatment, lawmakers urge

As part of the investigation, the Marshal’s Office usually ensures the safety of the Supreme Court, which conducted 126 interviews with 97 court employees and concluded that 82 of them had access to the draft, in addition to the nine judges. “I talked to each judge many times during the investigation,” Cooley said. “The justices actively collaborated during this iteration, asked questions and answered mine. I followed up with all the reliable prospects, and it didn’t involve the judge or spouse.”

The letter from the court highlights the concerns pointed to Justice Alito after A New York Times Report Since November, a former anti-abortion leader has learned about the outcome of another Alito majority ruling before his friend had a meal with the justice and his wife, after public release in 2014. Lipton-Lubet’s letter to lawmakers asked whether Alito was questioning the 2014 issue and whether his links to anti-abortion activists were studied.

“If found, employees of the Supreme Court will be vulnerable to widespread sanctions, including termination of employment and damage to future career prospects, they will be found to have misled the Marshal’s investigation. By contrast, the Justice enjoys a lifetime appointment and is nearly impossible to evacuate from the office.”

“So why did the marshal think that there is a need for additional threats that pose legal danger to ensure honest cooperation among court staff while refusing to expose the judges to the same legal vulnerability?” added lipton-lubet.

Representatives for Durbin and Jordan did not respond to requests for comment.

Jordan, whose Republicans gained control of a weak committee in the House of Representatives in November’s midterm elections, said he wanted to hold a hearing on other matters involving the FBI, immigration across the Mexican border and other matters about the president. But Rep. Darrell Issa, a California Republican and committee member, said he hopes to review the leak further.

“The Supreme Court leaked no case closed,” Itsa Say on Twitter last week. “Congress must conduct the investigation in a proper and comprehensive manner.”
