Trump initially mobilized 800 dc National Guard As part of his efforts to reduce crime in Washington on August 11. Since then, National Guard forces from Ohio, West Virginia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee have also been used to support the Trump administration’s efforts.
Trump’s riding with law enforcement and the National Guard is after the vice president JD Vance Visited the National Guard at United Station in Washington on Wednesday.
“We’re seeing real substantial impact because these guys are destroying their A-,” Vance said Wednesday.

“Just at Union Station, you have homeless people, you have drug users, you have long-term homelessness, you have harassment, threatening violence, harassment that attacks the family,” Vance said. “They have been doing it for a long time. This should be a great monument to America.”
Under the Sovereignty Act of 1973, the temporary takeover of the temporary acquisition of the Metropolitan Police Department will be authorized to a 30-day emergency. However, after that period expires, Congress must step in and approve any extensions. However, in the Domestic Rule Act, there are no similar restrictions on the DC National Guard troops.
Vance also indicated that Wednesday’s expansion could occur, depending on progress in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Washington officials filed a lawsuit questioning the Trump administration’s actions on Friday’s local federal police.
“By illegally announcing the takeover of the MPD, the government is abused its temporary, limited authority under the law,” Washington, D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb wrote in the X-Post Friday. “This is the worst threat DC has ever had to to its own rules and we are working to stop it.”
