Democratic Rep. Wesley Bell’s city hall breaks out in chaos during the Gaza war

A moderate House Democrat’s city hall turned into chaos minutes after the start of Tuesday night, with pro-Palestinian activists clashing with members of Congress and colleagues, becoming a near-delegation disruption and protest.

“Don’t talk. This is not your town hall. You can leave.” Bell told the protesters about 20 minutes after he began speaking. He said shortly afterwards: “When we sit here and split and fight each other, we have other people who have taken our democracy from us.”

Even calling for a “surge” to Gaza to flood Gaza, prompting Bell to answer: “Do you disagree?”

Although Bell and his host repeatedly beg for peace, protesters continued to call him a “war criminal” and accused him of Support genocide.

The incident became more intense as the hours progressed, and when Bell labeled the questioner the Israeli invasion of Gaza as a “genocide” questioner, he developed a fever.

One activist shouted, “You don’t have to set the definition of genocide.”

Bell replied, “No, I don’t…this is the thing, people can disagree, and that’s what makes our country great.”

“When it comes to the term genocide, I kind of disagree with you…because Israel is being publicly genocide attacked Terrorist organizations” He said protesters tried to drown him.

“Hamas said publicly that they want to destroy Israel… So you accuse someone of genocide, you’re talking to an organization that says they want to commit genocide. Can’t you see?”

He continued to the boo: “We need to see the surge in humanitarian aid to Gaza, we need to see the end of the war. We need to see every hostage return, we need to see the viable future of Gaza without Hamas.”

Although pro-Palestinian protesters have attracted much of the attention, it does seem that there are a large number of participants supporting Bell, especially when he tries to bring the conversation back to local issues.

“The No. 1 Killer in St. Louis [ages] 1 and 17 are gun violence, and some people want to talk about that. ” he said in applause.

Once, a woman tried to face the protesters directly.

“Shut up with white privilege,” the woman could be heard yelling. “You’ve never been hungry, you’ve never had a child hungry, but do you want to stand here and reduce the work he’s doing?”

It is unclear how or if activists respond.

The City Hall host tried to expand the situation early, calling on security protesters to escort unruly protesters minutes after the start.

“Let’s do it in a democratic way, democratic way. You can’t hear anyone yelling. I hear your voice. As a mixed race, I hear your voice.” “If you yell, bark and perform, we won’t be able to do this.”

However, late at night, Bell issued a statement thanking all the attendees for coming.

“I want to thank everyone who came to our town hall tonight – yes, the conversation is passionate at times, but democracy is messy and we must defend it enthusiastically.”
