Gov. Kathy Hochul Socialist candidates were rejected and told the Hampton crowd “I’m in favor of free enterprise” according to New York City Mayor’s candidate Zohran Mamdani’s taxpayer-funded supermarket program. New York Post.
Hochul posted the line on Saturday at a business breakfast hosted by billionaire supermarket tycoon John Catsimatidis, and drew applause from attendees.
Catsimatidis, the proposal could threaten its grated chain and the D’Agostino chain, later praised Hochul’s comment, told the post: “These types of grocery store Just not working. ”
The withdrawal has increased the growing boycott of the Mandani agenda, which critics warn that would weaken private grocery stores and burden taxpayers.

“Quick slogans,” Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi said in an email to Fox News Digital.
“Governor Cuomo A plan has been proposed that is actually to help those with insecurities, and the answer is not the Soviet-style bread line. Kansas City just closed government-run grocery stores (and canceled their free buses) after wasting millions of taxpayers. ”

Mamdani, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, proposed opening five municipal supermarkets, one in each borough, with an estimated cost of $60 million. He believes the stores will fight rising food prices and expand opportunities for affordable groceries. The critic confrontation program could shut down private competitors, limit consumer choices, and stick with New Yorkers at uncontrollable costs.
Mayor leader is also under fire for housing. Earlier this month, Fox News Digital reported that Mamdani faced a moral complaint that he questioned whether he was benefiting from a stable apartment inappropriately while earning nearly $150,000 as a legislator.

Cuomo raised the question, proposing that the Zohran’s Law prevent high-income earners from taking subsidized units. Mamdani said when he made $47,000 he moved into the apartment without knowing that the rent was stable, while his campaign refuted that the criticism was politically motivated.
Hochul, a Century Democrats The person who has not yet been recognized in the mayoral campaign is the latest institutional figure targeting the Mamdani platform. Meanwhile, Cuomo continues to use himself as a counter-heavy response to what he calls an untested progressive ideology.

Mamdani’s campaign did not respond to a comment request from Fox News Digital for Hochul’s comments. Gov. Hochul did not immediately return a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
