More than 240 people arrested in Trump’s historic DC police acquisition network

A White House official told Fox News that the Trump administration’s crackdown on violent crimes in Washington, D.C. has defeated more than 240 arrests and has taken 38 shots from the street.

The display of force swept over gang members, robbery suspects and Violating immigration. On Friday alone, 52 people were arrested, including 28 illegal immigrants, while three guns were caught.

The federal team also cleared 25 homeless camps, and officials said the relocations were conducted without confrontation or arrest.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller praised the scale of the operation and said the numbers were “stunning”.

“We’ve seen record-breaking violent criminals, bad guys, gang members and various threats to public safety, as well as illegal weapons they use to intimidate citizens of the city,” Miller told Fox News Live.

“In addition, we have seen more than 70 homeless camps that have been cut down and destroyed the city’s public streets, demolished and thrown away, and homeless people cleared homeless people from these camps. Meanwhile, we have the National Park Services department, ridding of gang graffiti that has not been touched for decades.”

The action quietly began on August 7, with the President-created Working Group on Make DC Safe and Beautiful Donald Trump Administrative order was passed in March.

He temporarily seized federal control of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) under emergency powers in the Domestic Rule Act on August 11, the first action in U.S. history.

The order places the MPD in federal authorities for up to 30 days unless Congress extends the MPD and deploys 800 National Guards.

Overall, the President deployed a total of 22 multi-agency teams with more than 1,800 personnel in all seven police stations when he vowed to actively “take back our capital.”

“Our capital is very unsafe. … Some people are out of control. But we will control it soon,” Trump said on Monday.

Other arrests include drug distribution, weapons of violations and outstanding warrants. Police also detained suspects accused of fleeing law enforcement, driving recklessly, attacking and kidnapping with dangerous weapons.

The DC National Guard patrolled vehicles around the National Shopping Center and Union Station last night. As they continued to arm, officials stressed that instead of arresting them, they secured federal assets and provided cover for police.

Democrats and local officials delayed backwards, noting that the MPD and the U.S. Attorney’s Office reported lows of violent crimes by 30 years, down 35% from 2023 to 2024.

FBI data from the same period showed a decrease of about 9%, highlighting the large gap between local and federal statistics. The differences arise from differences in classifying and reporting crimes to federal databases.
