Flash torrent leaves die at least three people in Tennessee | Tennessee

Flash torrents and heavy rains will cost at least three lives Tennessee Wednesday, as the county magistrate declared a state of emergency and caused serious damage on the roads around Chattanooga.

Authorities in the area said a tree was uprooted from saturated ground and fell on their car early Wednesday morning in East Ridge, a suburb of Chattanooga, killing a child and two adults.

Nearly seven inches of rain fell in the Hamilton County area Tuesday night, closing the interstate and prompting county mayor Weston Wamp to announce the state of emergency remains in effect Wednesday morning.
