A 17-year-old suspect was arrested after being shot dead in Times Square in New York City in the early hours of Saturday.
The gunshots were around 01:20 on EDT (05:20 GMT), and on West 44th Street and Seventh Street, a towering billboard in one of the world’s busiest tourist hotspots.
The teenager was not named by the police and the charges are yet to be heard.
The shooting happened three months before the New York City mayoral election, when President Donald Trump sent federal agents into the streets of Washington, D.C. to crack down on crimes committed by young people.
The shooting in Times Square broke out during a battle outside a raised sugar cane chicken restaurant.
According to the New York Police Department, it stems from a dispute. A pistol was found at the scene.
Police said a 19-year-old man was shot dead on his foot, a 65-year-old man was hit on his left leg and an 18-year-old woman was grazed on his neck.
They are all in a stable state to be admitted to the hospital.
Last month, shootings on office buildings killed four workers in Midtown Manhattan. The 27-year-old gunman, believed to be from Nevada, is believed to be targeting the National Football League office.
According to New York police, the city has had lower levels of gun violence in recent months.
On Friday, Trump ordered federal agents to enter the streets of Washington, D.C. to curb the level of crime that is “completely out of control”.
The homicide rate in Washington, D.C. is still relatively high compared to other U.S. cities, with a total of 98 such killings recorded so far this year. Ten years ago, homicides in the U.S. capital were getting higher and higher.

On Saturday, Trump announced the “Society of Truth” plan at a press conference at the White House on Monday, “this will effectively stop violent crimes in Washington, D.C..”
