A U.S. soldier was arrested on charges of trying to share secret information about the U.S. Army Abrams tank with Russia, prosecutors said.

The Justice Department accused Taylor Adam Lee of being an active soldier stationed in Brisburg, Texas, of passing the SD card to Russian officials and passing its sensitive information to Russian officials.

Lee holds a top secret security permit – charged under the Espionage Act. Prosecutors claimed he tried to exchange confidential information in exchange for Russian citizenship.

“This arrest is a shocking reminder of the serious threats facing the U.S. Army, Sean F. Stinchon of the Army Counterintelligence Command, said in a statement.

Mr. Lee, 22, was detained on Wednesday morning and appeared in court on the same day. In addition to espionage costs, he faces charges under the U.S. Arms Export Control Act.

Prosecutors accused Mr Lee of meeting with representatives of the Russian government in July and trying to share our defense information.

Mr. Li allegedly said: “The United States is not satisfied with me trying to expose their weaknesses.” “At this point, I even volunteered to assist the Russian Federation there in any way.”

He allegedly discussed obtaining specific hardware used inside the Abrams tank in Moscow and then shipped the hardware to a storage unit in El Paso, Texas on July 31.

The Justice Ministry said he then sent a text message to a Russian representative saying “the mission is completed.”

According to CBS News, a U.S. partner of the BBC, it is not clear whether he is represented by a lawyer.
