WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump said the United States stands with Greece as it recovers from the economic crisis. He is talking to the White House with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras at a joint press conference.
The U.S. president said the two leaders have discussed defense, energy, commerce and trade.
Trump praised Greece for its defense spending in NATO and noted that Greece has potential sales to upgrade its F-16 aircraft, which he said would be worth as much as $2.4 billion and generate thousands of U.S. jobs.
Tsipras said his country made economic progress and “left behind economic models that led to the crisis.” He said Greece’s relationship with the United States “is more important than ever.”
