Pop star Charlie XCX confirmed her marriage to 1975 band drummer George Daniel, after a video shot by a passer sparked online speculation.
On Saturday afternoon, the two were found posing on the steps of Hackney Town Hall – Daniel wearing a suit and tie and a white “boy” idol.
A few hours later, the singer’s Tiktok post confirmed the wedding, comments to “Mr. XCX and Mrs.” increased by 3.9 million views and thousands of congratulations.
Charli XCX’s album Brat was released last year as a global cultural phenomenon. Filling social media feeds with viral videos and receiving good reviews, the success of which led her to perform the title in Glastonbury in June.
The singer confirmed the news in an off-shoulder white dress and her signature dark surround sunglasses.
She stepped off the camera – pretending to be angry – on the video below the text read: “When George saw me walking down the aisle, when he wasn’t crying.”
But “Luckily he did XX” is the accompanying title.
XCX said a later article included a photo of Daniel wearing a Charlie veil, giving “bride party energy.”
Video outside Hackney Town Hall showed the couple held an intimate ceremony.
The two have been in the relationship for several years and have shared engagement photos in 2023.
They also worked together several times, first with Charli’s song spinning and then collaborating on Brat, but Daniel was appointed co-producer and co-author of the two songs.
He also participated in one of Charli’s London shows, participated in the virus “Apple Dance” and appeared in front of thousands of fans on the screen of the concert.
His band The 1975 was led by singer Matty Healy and is known for his song Chocolate. Daniel has released several tracks as a solo artist in recent years.
