Three Students of Andhra in AIEEE top 10

HYDERABAD: After a splendid performance in Indian Institute of Technology- Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE), students from the state fared equally well in the All-India Engineering Entrance Examiantion (AIEEE)-2011, securing three ranks among the top 10. The results of the exam were declared on Sunday.

In the open category, J Varun secured rank 5 while I Pridhvi Tej secured rank 7, T Bhargava Reddy rank 8 and Sai Surendra Reddy secured rank 12. I Pridhvi Tej was the topper in the IIT-JEE while J Varun had secured rank 9 and Bhargava bagged rank 8 in it.

Out of the 11,14, 880 students registered for it, 10,53,832 appeared for the AIEEE, the largest competitive exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Exams.

The online registration for counselling to be conducted by the Central Counselling Board will be starting shortly. This year, the cut-off marks to be cleared for the candidates of general, OBC, SC/ST and physically handicapped categories were 48, 45, 18 and 18 marks respectively. The candidates who cleared the cut-off marks are eligible to opt for BE, B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Planning in the online counselling.

As many as 1.10 lakh candidates appeared from Andhra Pradesh and secured more than 25 ranks among the top 100.

Congratulating the victorious students, Dr B S Rao from Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions said: “All the toppers in AIEEE have bagged top ranks in the IIT-JEE. We will make more candidates ready for various national and state level entrance tests in the near future.” Earlier, the students who had appeared for the AIEEE had a tough time after the exam was rescheduled to May 1 following the leak of the question paper. Some students could not attend the exam on May 1 as there was a clash with Armed Forces Medical College examination.

The exam was conducted for these candidates again on May 11.
