Rep. Ralph Norman, RSS C., came to Congress in 2017 to pull off his hand bid at Sunday’s Rock Hill sports rally.

Norman is also working to address South Carolina’s infrastructure, impose term limits for state lawmakers, tort reforms, and promises to “get people to vote against judges.”

Currently, most state judges in South Carolina are decided by the General Assembly. Some positions, including magistrate judges, are appointed by the governor.

Norman also promised to “use the bullying podium to bring my case directly to people” and “use the veto pen.”

His campaign speech also touches on socially conservative goals, such as advocating for school choices and restricting school bathrooms at birth by gender.

Norman’s speech said: “If nothing works, I’ll tell you now that any so-called “Republican” Reno legislator does not represent the reforms people have asked for and should not be in office, and if that’s the case, we’ll beat them in the Republican primary.”

Norman joined the crowded Republican elementary school field with Sunday’s announcement. South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, Gov. Pamela Evette and State Senator Josh Kimbrell also participated.

Meanwhile, Norman’s House colleague, Rep. Nancy Mays (RSS), is also said to be considering a campaign for the governor.

Norman’s long-time ally of former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley was the only House Republican who formally recognized her before Haley exited the game, and Norman has since supported Trump.

“When I support Nikki Haley, I respect Donald Trump and called him, I told him what I was going to do, and I decided I would do that,” he said.

It is worth noting, however, that Norman has been a voice supporter of Trump since Haley’s exit – unlike other House Liberty Caucus allies, he has not been angry about Trump’s loyalty to Haley.

He recently celebrated their legislative success at the White House with other House Republicans earlier this week.

The South Carolina gubernatorial election will be held in November 2026.
