Rubio downplays rumors that he will be the next Republican presidential candidate

Secretary of State Marco Rubio Refuted speculation that he might be the Republican presidential candidate for 2028, but instead provides support to the vice president JD Vance.

“I think If JD Vance decides to do so, he will be a great nominee.

Rubio also described Vance as one of his “politically closest friends.”

He continued to praise Vance for his performance as vice president in that part of “Lara Trump’s view” and made it clear that he was happy with his current role in President Donald Trump’s cabinet.

Rubio added: “I want to do this work as long as the president allows me.”

Trump appointed Rubio as top diplomat in the United States shortly after defeating the then president Kamala Harris In the 2024 election. Rubio, formerly a Republican senator in Florida, was initially confirmed Trump’s cabinet.

“I believe if I could get here during this presidency and we have done things at the pace we’ve been doing over the past six months, I’ll be able to look back at my time in public service and say I made a difference, I made an impact, and I had a very positive way,” Rubio told Trump.

He added: “As the highest point of my career, I will be satisfied.”
