Donald Trump announced a tariff deal with the EU to end four months of difficult negotiations between Washington and Brussels and the prospect of creating a transatlantic trade war.
Director of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyendescribing it as “a big, a huge deal” that will bring “stability” and “predictability”. “The two largest economies should have good trade flows,” she said.
“It solves a lot of things, and it’s a good decision,” Trump said.

The deal involves benchmark tariffs for most EU exports to the United States, which limits higher border tax charges for EU goods sold to the U.S. market. However, it is higher than before Trump took office and holds 50% of steel exports in the industry.
The drugs have also been excluded and may face punitive tariffs, Trump said.
The deal was signed after a 40-minute meeting at Trump’s golf course Scotland Location in four days of private access.
