“The government has informed the defense attorney that it will continue to conduct the discovery during the 30-day period, and the parties will continue to conduct the arrangement order before the July 30, 2025 deadline and there is no expected trial date on January 27, 2026 due to the request for relief.”

In the case of Abrego Garcia, an Salvadorian immigrant in March, the Trump administration’s statements appeared to limit 30 days of confusing and contradictory statements, who was wrongly deported to El Salvador in March for violating court orders and returned to the United States three months later six months later.

The extended time frame may also cause Abrego Garcia’s attorney to continue waiting for U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis, a federal judge in Maryland, to issue an order to expel ice from immediate clients to a third country.

After a one-day evidence hearing this month, Judge Sinis, who chairs civil cases since March, plans to issue a temporary restraining order that requires the ICE to continue Abrego Garcia for a fixed time before it can be deported to a third country.
