
One person died and two were missing after a group of people swept the falls on Saturday afternoon in Oregon. The local sheriff’s office said.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said it rescued three people from the Deschutes River that was transported to the hospital, while another person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders used drones to look for survivors near Dillon Falls after receiving an emergency call in the afternoon. And plan to resume search work on Sunday after a night pause.
According to Central Oregon, Dillon Falls’ 15-foot drop (4.5 meters) becomes a “fast ladder-like step-like pattern.”
The waterfalls on the Deschutes River are located near the city of Bend in Deschutes National Forest, a popular place for tourists.
Every summer, thousands of people take boats, kayaking or float on inner tubes on the river, where there are white water areas and trout and salmon fisheries.
Local firefighters and police responded to 911 calls around 15:00 PDT (21:00 BST)
Officials have not named the victim, so they can previously notify family members.
