Wilson BethelRole of Untamed Playing a big role in the show’s big mystery, but he didn’t know the big twist even when he joined the project.
“When I first started auditioning for a role, I didn’t know the full extent of his motivation and what guided him,” Bethel explained. US Weekly About his new Netflix Show, the show premieres Thursday, July 17. “At the stage where I initially figured out the character and figured out who I was, I was making educated guesses that weren’t exactly accurate.”
Bethel points out that he likes the mystery Revolving around the character.
“I think one thing in general about this show is how they skillfully tease the message to make it really stay distorted and fit the type of the show,” he said. “But they do it in a very elegant and fun way.”
Bethel laughed at how it really hit the top of the big reveal while reflecting on the limited series, adding: “As an audience, it’s a huge reward. It’s a huge reward. In terms of characters, it’s a huge reward. We got these very interesting dynamic performances in all these different actors on the show. Suddenly, one person showed one look in the last episode or one look, while another shared another with another. [becomes]“Oh, that’s what it means.’”
He continued: “If you look at it the second time, it’s a part of it that might reward some moments, and that’s a really cool thing. You can see those different eyes on the second watch.”
Untamedalso a star Eric Bana, Sam Neill, Lily Santiago and Rosemarie Dewitt,,,,, Located in Yosemite National Park The death of a woman put the federal agents into an incapable terrain, and nature did not obey its rules, but its own.
“One of the amazing things about performing live, it deepens the value of everything in the show,” Bethel shared. “Show [usually] Shoot on a windowless soundstage in a very safe place because you have control over everything. But when the work is willing to face certain challenges (whether it is weather, insects or bears), it will be beneficial to set up a show in one place, especially a place so beautiful and so wild. ”
Throughout the season, Kyle (Bana) investigated a death that left him secretly unaware of in Yosemite. All signs point to Bethel’s character Shane, who previously killed the man who murdered his son, formerly helped Kyle’s current wife, Dewitt.
Shane ends up having a gunfight with Kyle, but it is not until the end that he realizes that his colleague Paul (Neil) is the one responsible for the woman’s death. Although Shane is not wrong, Bethel believes his innocence will not change the audience’s role.
“One of the things I think I like about this character is if he feels misunderstood or not. He will not give at all. “That’s cool. I’m not sure I play the role of the world in this way. ”
In fact, Bethel is not sure if Shane has any regrets About the last moments of his life.
“I don’t think it’s a misunderstood issue. He’s going to kill Kyle because that’s what he has to do, because things turn into pear shape, that’s how the card falls off and then he’s killed.” “There are other aspects that are morally questionable, or as weird as Shane McGuire’s character. Other aspects of this character make sense to me, too.”
Bethel concluded: “Obviously any role requires you to do a lot of thinking about where this character is coming from. But it wasn’t some crazy reach to me because I did feel like I know who this guy was from some combination of things that live inside me and just observations about the world. Additionally, as it happens, I also am a lifelong backpacker and I love the idea of being deeply immersed in nature, and having that be a fundamental part of your life is not scary or weird to me.”
