Congressman’s tiktok “halo cultivation” video triggers rebound

Rep. Suhas Subramanyam, D-Va. Entering the “Aura Farming” trend of Tiktok, posting clips of their own dancing solos on the Congress Metro and holding OMW for “OMW to hold the government accountable”.

In short clipSubramanyam appeared on the house subway, wearing sunglasses, striking poses and waving his arms, and locked onto the camera.

Subramanyam’s “halo farming” seems counterproductive, with some commentators calling it deaf, hypocrisy and “collapse”.

Democrats under President Donald Trump, frustrated by Democrats’ inaction, left-leaning audiences targeted VA-10 members of Congress in the comments section. One of the top comments asked flatly: “Do nothing…?” Another sentence: “Represents must stop doing this. Actually do something.”

Many commenters linked posts to Subramanyam’s past voting records, including His controversial decision A few weeks ago, opposing his party, don’t impulse on houses targeting Trump.

A lengthy reply said: “Don’t try to disrespect. But, less of this sh-. Please launch more on the floor. I want to do publicity. But, is this? This is not the ordinary American demand that the United States represents now. We don’t have any taxes here, and we do better here.”

Another suggestion: “Introduced a new amendment to every performative tiktok, they must sign 3 bills in a post by Congressmen to limit the power of money in politics.”

Subramanyam, a former tech adviser to Obama’s White House and the first South Asian elected to the Virginia Convention, has become a reputation as a more moderate Democrat. He won Virginia’s 10th District in 2024 and often plays his immigration roots in political news.

The popular “halo cultivation” trend in Gen Z and Alpha refers to the gestures that are usually relaxed and cool while still. It took off after a video of 11-year-old Indonesian boy Rayyan Arkan Dikha dancing while wearing sunglasses on a racing boat and feeling confident.
