Waltz faces Senate review of signal chat at UN ambassador hearing

“They haven’t reached a conclusion yet, but of course they haven’t reached a conclusion yet, and they haven’t shared any classified information. Am I wrong about this?” Kane said of the investigation.

“I shouldn’t and cannot comment on the ongoing investigation,” Walz said. “What I can do is respond to the testimony of Secretary Heggs, that is, there is no name, goal, location, unit, route, source, method, no classified information.”

“I get it. I’m sure Secretary Heggs said he didn’t share any confidential information,” Kane said. “But the fact is that the Pentagon has two investigations that aim to determine whether to share confidential information in an objective and independent way, and to a minimum share of the attack plan with sensitive military information that should not be shared.”

D-Conn. Senator Chris Coons also expressed concern about the use of signal group chat after doubled Waltz’s claim that the Trump administration did not convey any classified information in the chat.

“You are sharing details about the upcoming air strikes and the launch time and potential targets,” Coons said. “I mean, it’s obviously sensitive information.”

Coons asked Waltz if the former national security adviser had spoken with Hergs about his decision to share details about the strike.

“Senator we’re talking about a very successful mission, doing something that the Biden administration didn’t do, and it’s actually targeting the Houthi leadership,” Walz said.

Councillors, including Coons, said they hope Waltz will have ownership of what was discussed in the chat, while Waltz kept not sharing any confidential information.

“I want to hear from you that you regret sharing very sensitive, timely information about military strikes on commercially available applications,” Coons said. “It is notoriously not an appropriate way to share such critical information.”

“Again, Senator, I think we have fundamental differences because there is no confidential information about the chat,” Walz said.

The Pentagon declined to provide comments to Fox News Digital. Fox News Digital was unable to contact Waltz for comment.
