Norm defends FEMA’s Texas reaction, calling Democratic criticism “despicable”

Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem Sunday said criticism of federal response to the deadly flood in Texas was politically motivated, calling the allegations of a Democratic lawmaker “absolutely mean.”

“You know, this memorandum and this criticism are political because I’m there,” Nome said. “I’m there, and whenever someone asks anything, we absolutely say, it’s going to be here as soon as possible and that’s going to be done.”

Neum said she and more than 700 FEMA workers were in the area within hours after a call with Texas officials. She added that the Coast Guard also deployed the phone immediately.

Noem Rips CNN report claims she delayed DHS response to Texas floods as “absolute rubbish”

When asked about Murphy’s claim about the victim’s appeal FEMA During the days of the deadly flooding of the fire, Norm called his words “absolutely lie.”

“That’s what I think is so stupid and terrible. No one was fired, no contract ended, everyone was there to answer the phone and do whatever it could to help the people of Texas,” Neum said. “So the fact that Democrats are politicizing while people are still looking for babies, they’re still looking for families, and I think it’s absolutely mean.”

Norm said Americans “need to know how Democrats use this situation to help themselves politically.”

“It’s not only a harm to the people of Texas and the families who are experiencing grief now, but it’s a bad thing for our country,” she said.

Fox News Digital contacted Murphy’s office for a speech, but they did not respond immediately.
