Farm workers were seriously injured after an immigration attack on a California marijuana farm, during which about 200 people, including 10 minors, were detained, according to the union.
“UFW confirmed farm workers were seriously injured in a chaotic attack in Ventura County, California yesterday. Other workers, including U.S. citizens, remain completely unresponsible,” Union Farm workers said in a statement Friday night. The union initially reported one of the workers’ deaths, but later said the death was not confirmed.
Protesters faced federal agents on Thursday in an attempt to stop the raid, and the conflict broke out at Glass House Farm in Camarillo on Thursday. Tears gas fired at protesters, and the National Guard with guns and gas masks tried to stop protesters from entering the indoor farm.
Federal officials said a protester fired something that looked like a pistol at federal agents. It is not clear where the teenager comes from, but Customs and Border Protection owner Rodney Scott said the youngest is 14 years old.

“Here are some prominent news: 10 teenagers were found in this marijuana facility – all illegal foreigners, eight of whom were unaccompanied,” he wrote on X on Friday. “An investigation is now being conducted on violations of child labour.”
The age of the person who died was not reported.
Protesters performed the clash live, with a video showing a teenage boy crying and saying his mother was taken away. U.S. officials shared a video of a man firing a weapon at federal agents and offering a $50,000 reward to help them find and convict the suspect.
Federal officials “rescue at least 10 immigrant children from places that appear to be exploitation, forced child labour, and potentially trafficking or smuggling by humans,” Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.
“During the operation, a violent agitator fired a gun at our brave officer.”
Marijuana is legal and regulated in California – this kind of enforcement is about workers, not products.

The California Central Coast farmland north of Los Angeles followed Camarillo and Carpenteria while attacking two glass house marijuana farms.
Glass House said in a statement to X that it complies with immigration officials.
“Workers are detained and we are assisting them in providing legal representation,” the company said. “The Glass House has never intentionally violated the applicable recruitment method, nor has it, and has never hired minors.”
UFW said it is aware of reports of minors found on the farm.
“Farm workers are excluded from basic child labour laws, and unfortunately, it is not uncommon for adolescents to work in the fields. It is important to be clear: detention and deportation of children are not solutions to child labour,” a statement from the union said.
Since President Trump deployed the National Guard and U.S. Marines to Los Angeles last month to protect federal immigration agents, California, and especially Los Angeles County — has been the center of daily immigration attacks.
While many Americans support President Trump’s tough immigration policies, in Southern California, they have caused obvious fear in the immigrant community, with many immigrants hiding at home and too afraid to go to work or grocery stores.
