New York City Mayor’s Democratic candidate Mamdani was identified as “Black or African American” in his 2009 Columbia University application The New York Times reported Thursday. Mamdani, a high school student at the time, also checked out the “Asians”, reportedly wrote in “Uganda” to seek other backgrounds. Even though his father was a professor in an elite school, he was ultimately not accepted by Colombia. He was not an American citizen at that time.

Mamdani told Times that he considered it “an African-born American” and said checking multiple boxes was to reflect his “complex background” rather than gaining an advantage in the competitive enrollment process.

However, Adams condemned Mandani’s move as an “insult to every student who went to college in the right way.”

“African-American identity is not a convenient checkbox,” Adams said. “It’s a history, struggle and a life experience. It’s offensive to get someone to use for the personal benefit.”

Cuomo movement spokesman Rich Azzopardi responded to the call from Camp Adams.

“It’s no surprise, like Mamdani (his advice, funding and background) absolutely has no review,” Azzopardi said. “The issue has to be fully investigated because if it’s true, it can be fraud, just the tip of the iceberg.”

Sliwa, on the other hand, walked along the highway and viewed the controversy as political distractions, which would only help Mamdani’s cause.

Sliwa warned critics that critics are handing Mamdani to a political gift.

“Even people who disagree with him on the issue, they declare a defense when they think the attack is unfair or cross the highest,” Sliwa added. “Let’s go back to the question of the obvious difference between the way Zohran Mamdani wants to run the city and the way I want to run the city – or Eric Adams or Andrew Cuomo. Stop, you’re just making him suffer.”

The Adams Movement calls on Columbia University to release Mamdani’s 2009 admission record, clarifying whether his non-citizenship affected the admission or financial aid decision and conducting a formal review to determine whether any university policy is violated.

“We need the answer,” said Todd Shapiro, a spokesman for Adams. “Because the people of New York should know whether the man who asked the vote has built his career on the basis of possible fraud.”

Fox News Digital was involved in the Mamdani campaign with the controversy and his opponent’s responsibility, but did not receive an immediate response.
