Once released, there will be political violence in everyone.
It has no idea what the aisle or ideology you are in, who your allies are or your vision for the future. It doesn’t know the media brands you consume or how many enthusiastic followers you have.
Political violence does not know and does not care about such things.
Like an infectious disease, it simply and effectively detects more and more victims. Who they are is not picky.
Regardless of his beliefs, it was tragic to kill Charlie Kirk at a campus event in Utah on Wednesday. Tragically, how most of the direct reactions of partisanship, violence and ugliness are on the right. Nancy Mace, a Republican Congressman from South Carolina, told reporters that “Democrats have what happened today.” She provided no evidence, only partisan sulfuric acid.
About Fox News, Jesse Watters, one of the most prominent right-wing media figures, seeks revenge.
“We want to avenge Charlie’s death,” Waters told the live viewer. “Everyone is responsible. We’re watching…politicians, the media and all these rats.”
Admittedly, on the left, some say too quickly, essentially, “You harvest your seeds”, but the most outstanding progressives – from Barack Obama to Mehdi Hasan, express sympathy and sadness. Some people do this while acknowledging political differences, but stress that those don’t matter at this moment.
There is a lot of blame and talk about accountability. But we already know that there will be no real change in gun violence, and there will be no real responsibility. Because it’s hard, bipartisan work and too much work in the United States – deeply entrenched and concealed by the president who was violently utterly in tribal politics – was not interested.
Guns “rights” and gun industrial currency – dominate this day.
Even more ugly, social media cheered up its engine and always did it – making it worse.
Abby Phillip of CNN on X wrote: “The extent to which algorithms on the platform launch shooting videos is unsettling.
This gun violence is indeed an epidemic in the United States, which is more than the media coverage of Kirk’s assassination was interrupted by another school shooting, a time in Colorado evergreen.
Denver TV KDVR offers heartbreaking interviews With a student Who said he was new to the area.
“I moved here a few months ago and I don’t think it’s so fast.”
These two words will speak very quickly. Primary school students are totally looking forward to life-changing trauma; they just hope it may take some time to come to them.
Because, as mentioned before, it comes to everyone.
Gabrielle Giffords, a former Democratic Congressman from Arizona, was shot dead in 2012 and suffered a severe brain injury and is now a passionate advocate for preventing gun violence. Her posting reaction is admirable and dedicated, but her posting reaction seems curious, although it certainly provides hope in a dark moment.
“There will always be politically divided in democratic societies, but we must never allow the United States to be a country facing divisions with violence,” she wrote.
But, as Giffords knows very well, we have allowed it. The United States is already that country.
