Watch: BBC reporter’s reaction to the reaction inside the court

Music tycoon Diddy’s comb was found guilty of extortion and sex trafficking Wednesday but was convicted of traffic crimes after nearly two months of federal trial in New York City.

Prosecutors accused the Comb of using his celebrity identity and business empire to run a criminal business against sexual traffic women and cover up his crimes. The rapper acknowledged domestic violence but denied any involuntary encounters or larger racket plans.

A panel of 12 jurors considered for 13 hours before acquitting three of the five worst charges he faced.

The jury heard from 34 witnesses convened by the prosecution.

Their big names include stars like rapper Kid Cudi and R&B singer Cassie Ventura to dressing table staff, including makeup artists, designers and assistants.

The jury also heard from people outside the hip-hop tycoon circle, male escorts, hotel staff and agents – wrapped in his world.

Here is a breakdown of the main witnesses in this explosive trial:

Cassie Ventura

R&B singer Cassie Ventura, a star witness to the prosecution, conceived nine months pregnant just days after she finished her testimony.

In her 11-year dating comb, Ms. Ventura testified that she was forced to engage in drugs with male escorts and escort “humiliation” sexual acts with males while the defendant was watching and filming. These sexual parties are called “freaks” and are the main characteristics of the trial.

Ms. Ventura often shed tears and said an example of the comb allegedly beat her, kicked her, hit her or dragged her with her hair. She said a network of employees knew what was going on and worked with the comb to cover up her hurt.

The juror saw pictures of burrs and bruises on her body, looking at the infamous InterContinental security footage, which seemed to show the comb beat her up and drag her with her hair.

Combs’ attorney asked her about her drug abuse at the time and text messages she seemed to express excitement or desire for “Freak Off.” Ms. Ventura insists that she is forced.

She said these encounters took her life. “It makes me feel worthless,” she told the court. “Freaks become a job, there is no room for anything other than recovery, just trying to feel normal again.”

Ms. Ventura also filed a personal lawsuit against the rapper in 2023, which settled for $20 million.

“Jane”, ex-girlfriend

Another victim brought to the stance by the prosecutor was a woman who used the pseudonym “Jane”. Her dates are from 2021 to 2024 until the hip-hop tycoon is arrested.

Some of Jane’s testimony are similar to Ms. Ventura’s testimony. She described attending a “hotel night” where she would have sex with one or more escorts within three days during the comb watching.

She testified that to this day, the defendant paid for Jane’s house and attorney. She told the court that saying to him does not mean losing that.

She said even though she had Utah and had just thrown it out, she was forced to perform, after he choked and beat her up.

Jane also testified that the combs cross states or other countries fled to the hotel night.

The defense direction was pushed back, convened the night’s consent and provided the jury with information about the jury she seemed to plan or ask for.

Jane replied that she tried to retain “control” of what happened, and she just wanted to be with her “lover.”

‘Mia’, comb’ former assistant

In another multi-day examination, anonymous witness “MIA” claimed that the comb had physically and sexually assaulted her during her eight years as a personal assistant.

She accused the defendant of violently slamming her arm against the bathroom door in court, throwing things at her, stealing her phone, forcing her to take drugs, rape her, and forcing her to keep her at home.

In the so-called sexual assault, Mia says she feels she can’t say no.

“I can’t tell him about the sandwich,” she said. “I don’t know anything.”

Mia claims she witnessed the anger and violence of the combs to R&B singers.

Kid Cudi, musician and actor

Scott Mescudi

Scott Mescudi, known for the stage name Kid Cudi, is a witness to the highest star power to date.

Mr Mescudi said he dated Ms. Ventura when she and the comb were broken down. He told the court about two incidents, Coms discovered their relationship – a break-in at his home, his Porsche was destroyed by a Molotov cocktail.

Mr Mescudi accused Combs of the two incidents, although the defense insisted that he was not involved.

Personal Assistant

George Kaplan, former assistant

Several former comb employees stood up and described extreme time and weird responsibilities.

Former assistant David James said Combs was like the “king” and he often kept his employees working 20 hours six days a week.

At one time, Mr. James said he and a security guard met rival big shot Suge Knight at a restaurant in Los Angeles. When they returned to Combs’ house and told him, the defendants allegedly asked them to face Mr. Knight – dragging three shots. James said Mr. Knight had left.

Another aide, George Kaplan, testified that he witnessed Combs’ violence against Ms. Ventura and ignored it. He said he felt he could not tell anyone. He testified, “I am a young man, this is God among men.”

Some assistants say that setting up and cleaning the comb’s hotel room is also in the job description.

Another employee, Jonathan Perez, testified that he purchased Xanax, cocaine and Combs’ chief of staff orders for the rapper. He said he also brought candles, clothing, wine, food and lubricants for the comb and Jane.

Male escort

The male escort involved in the comb and Ms. Ventura’s “freak” also had the opportunity to speak to the court. They say their stories are very similar – they initially contacted by divesting services and ended up having a sexual encounter at the hotel.

The encounters will last for hours to days, and they claim they are being paid thousands of dollars.

Daniel Phillip said he had sex with Ms. Ventura, while Combs watched, directed and filmed, and claimed he witnessed the violence between the two. Another escort, known as the “Punisher”, testified that he had paid for having sex with Ms. Ventura eight to 12 times in New York.

Ms. Ventura usually looks comfortable, but sometimes the comb provides instructions that cause her to wince or sigh, he said. Mr Hayes testified that she would seek “consent” from the rapper.

Cassie’s friend Bryana Bongolan

Bryana Bongolan

Bryana Bongolan’s main accusation was Ms. Ventura’s long-time friend, who was Combs who once hung her on the balcony on the 17th floor.

The graphic designer told the court that after two days of combing, one night, while she was sleeping in Ms. Ventura’s apartment, Combs entered the apartment and found her on the balcony and hugged her on the edge, throwing a specialist at her. Eventually, he threw her into the balcony furniture, she said.

Ms. Bongolan said the comb threatened her in another moment in the photo, saying, “I am the devil, I can kill you.”

During cross-examination, Combs’ lawyer said Ms. Bongolan’s credibility was questioned, and she eventually revealed that she could not remember all the details of her past. She also held a separate pending lawsuit against the comb.
