Jury selection is expected to end on Wednesday Federal Trial Ryan Routh, 59, a North Carolina man, accused of attempting to assassinate the president Donald Trump last year.

The court is working through its third and final panel of prospective jurors, aiming to get 12 jurors and four substitutes to sit on Thursday morning.

By the end of Tuesday, the court had dismissed more than 70 of the original 180 prospective jurors, many with strong opinions on Trump’s opinion, connections to law enforcement or concerns about impartiality.

All eyes were focused on the speed at which the court could place the full panel and whether Rolls continued to test the boundaries of self-representation. Trump-running Judge Aileen Cannon, who presided over the case, dismissed a list of non-themed and politically accused issues during the selection process and raised questions raised by Routh during the selection process.

His adult children attended the court, and one son Oran was listed as a role witness, although currently being sentenced to jail on irrelevant charges.

Rolls also tried to strike a potential juror who revealed that he had breakfast with the president and the first lady 25 years ago while working for the golf course principal. The man told the court that he respected Trump and found him “very good” but insisted that he could still be fair. Cannon denied Rous’ request, noting that decades of interactions did not disqualify him.

Cannon also saw Tuesday withdraw 23 jurors from 60 pools, and about 110 prospective jurors are still being considered. One of the men who were fired earlier said he was arrested at Routh’s, another received a voicemail from him two days ago, and a woman who announced “I am Maga…it’s our president” during the inquiry, and then admitted that she could not think of Routh’s innocence.

Rouse himself moved to a court-granted questionnaire in which he had the juror defend racist comments.
