Karan Johar is known for his candidity and recently with Bollywood HungamaThe filmmaker once again shared some hard insights – this time about the current state of storytelling in the Hindi film industry. From genre fatigue to obsession with the cinematic universe, Johar is not opposed to his view on why originality should be celebrated rather than absence.

“I think everyone is trying to do what others are doing. I think the herd mentality. So, we see Pushpa Running and dining were very strongly welcomed the second and third-level audiences. Johar stressed that he did not pursue the trend of building a cinematic universe. To him, telling stories is the real universe. Kjo shared: “When someone asked me, you have a universe, I said, he said, he said, like, you know, like, like, like, my universe is a comedy type of universe. I said, my universe is the movie itself. My universe itself is the story. I’m not here to build the universe. I’m here to tell stories.”
