Exclusive: Rep. Ashley Hinson, of Iowa, started a statewide swing several hours before taking over Republican Sen. Joni Ernst, who won support from senior Republican Republican Republicans.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune recognized Hinson earlier Friday, saying: “We need conservative fighters in the Senate, which is exactly what we got with Ashley Hinson.”
“Traveling with Ashley on Iowa, I know she is the fighter that Hawkeye needs and needs to go beyond President Trump’s agenda in 2026 and beyond President Trump’s agenda,” said Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina.
On the eve of the recognition of West Des Moines and the Hinson campaign she was born and raised, she stressed in an exclusive Fox News digital interview that she felt “proudly up” with President Donald Trump.

“We have a common sense approach in Iowa, and I don’t want to see Iowa look like California. I think we need to see this country look more like Iowa,” she said.
“Iowa got it right,” she added.
Iowa was once the top battlefield for former presidents Barack Obama In his 2008 and 2012 White House won. However, in the recent election cycle, the state has moved to the right, with Trump lifting the state by 9 points in 2016, eight points in 2020, and last November 13 points.
Republicans currently hold seats in the state’s Senate – Ernst and longtime Senator Chuck Grassley, as well as all four congressional districts in Iowa, and all statewide offices except state auditors.
While Iowa Democrats have flipped two Republican Senate seats in special elections so far this year, Hinson believes her support for the president is A-Gul because she runs for the election Senate.
Trump is not in the voting, but the frontcourt and center of the 2025 election
“When I looked at the information we were going to sell, it was what they voted for in the last election. The vast majority of Iowa sent President Trump to the White House.”
Hinson stressed that she won her own house reelection with 15 points last November, saying: “The thing we’re hearing on the campaign is that they want lower taxes.”
“So what did we do? We delivered it.” She noted that the president signed the Republican Domestic Policy Act on July 4, which extended the tax breaks in 2017, excluding tips and overtime pay for many workers.

Hinson said she is “looking forward to the campaign and once again showing Iowans why conservative, solid leadership, to be a strong ally of President Trump and to make sure we will continue to deliver on those promises, so he has a full four years to do that.”
The Democratic Senator Campaign Committee (DSCC) targeted Hinson after announcing the candidacy.
DSCC communications director Maeve Coyle argued that Hinson repeatedly voted to vote to cut Medicaid, cheering for the chaotic tariffs threatening the Iowa economy, making the chaotic tax rate in the Iowa economy more pleasant, voted against measures, opposing measures to reduce the cost of insulin and reject businesses within the 2026 Social Security, which will reject businesses in 2026, and both Republican efforts and businesses can make hard work.
“I think they are wrong at best,” Hinson said in response.

She accused “When I heard the lies and fears on the left, it just covered up the fact that they had no information, except Bernie and AOC and AOC, now in Mamdani, New York,” she mentioned Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont of Alexandriria Ocasio-Cort.
“If that’s the direction they want to take our country, I think Iowa will refuse with all his heart,” she predicted.
Hinson also stressed that she is “doing a public city hall. I just finished my 46th and 47th public city halls in the area and talked about 47 [Trump] Working to make our country better and clear the chaos of 46 [former President Joe Biden]. ”

At some town hall meetings in Iowa this spring and summer, Hinson attracted national attention when facing disruptions, including enthusiastic questions from Jeers, Boos and voters. The rebound refers to her support for the Republican tax and spending bill, which Trump then called a big bill of his at the time.
“I think it’s very important to stay transparent and visiting, and I’m going to go out and defend our agenda anytime, anywhere and talk to Iowa,” she said.
But she lamented, “Unfortunately what we’re seeing is, like last week my town hall, people just want to stand there, yell and hold the camera in my face to try to get the virus clip. I don’t think it’s efficient. That’s why I answer their questions in a cool, calm and collectible way because I’m trying to change those questions by solving them and answering them.”
Senate Democrats recruit top candidates to win majority
Hinson himself has no major territory for the Republican Party. Former state Senator Jim Carlin and veteran Joshua Smith have entered the main game before Ernst announced.
Five Democrats are already running for the Senate in Iowa. These include Paralympic wheelchair basketball player, state Senator Zach Wahls, Knoxville Chamber executive director Nathan Sage and Des Moines school board chair Jackie Norris.
