The California governor’s office said Thursday that Donald Trump’s response to protests on immigration attacks was deployed in Los Angeles’ National Guard, causing nearly $120 million in taxpayers.

The U.S. president sent 2,000 National Guards into the city in June in a clash between federal immigration agents and protesters. This week The judge ruled Sending troops to accompany the authorities in immigration enforcement operations violated federal law.

More than 4,200 National Guard soldiers and 700 Marines were deployed in the area. Although Gavin Newsom’s office said that despite relatively few attacks assisting the attack, the costs increased – $71 million for food and necessities, $37 million in salary and $3.5 million in travel expenses, among other expenses, statement.

There are about 300 soldiers in the city.

Newsom describes the move as “waste, fraud and abuse.”

“Let’s not forget what this political theater has cost us all – millions of taxpayers’ money, the readiness of the national guards and the unnecessary hardships of families supporting these troops,” the governor said.

Newsom has opposed deployment from the very beginning. He filed a lawsuit in June, calling it an unprecedented illegal move and a “clear step towards authoritarianism.” Meanwhile, the president has taken action to send the National Guard to other democratic cities in the United States.

On Tuesday, Judge Charles Breyer ruled that the deployment was illegal and said the president threatened to send the National Guard elsewhere, which was equivalent to “the National Police Force that served as president.”

“The defendant incited the prolonged deployment of the National Guard and Marines Los Angeles To establish a military presence there and enforce federal laws. This behavior seriously violates the POSSE COMITATUS Act. ” Breyer said in the judgment.

Newsom’s office submitted a public record request to determine the cost of the National Guard and the activation of the Marines, the federal government did not respond, the statement said. The state’s National Guard provides the governor with calculations.

The office warned that such deployments had “real financial and social costs” and emphasized the impact on soldiers – a hasty deployment process that forced soldiers to sleep on the floor and use facilities without having to work.

Trump has sent the National Guard to Washington, D.C. in recent weeks and threatened other deployments in Chicago, New York and other cities.
