The Ministry of Defense restored to the Ministry of History’s war name

White House officials confirmed Thursday to Fox News that Trump will change the name on Friday. According to a White House fact sheet, the executive order requires the Department of War to be a secondary title for the Department of Defense, as well as terms like Hegseth’s “Secretary of War.”

The order also directed Heggs to file legislative and administrative litigation to change the name.

Similarly, according to White House officials, the implementation of the order would require modifications to the Pentagon’s public-oriented website and office signage, including renaming the Public Affairs Briefing Room “Pentagon War Annex.” Other long-term implementation projects are also underway, the official said.

Trump has sent a signal in recent days that this change is about to happen.

“Everyone loves that we had an incredible history of victory when we were in the War Department,” Trump Tell reporters on August 25. “Then we change it to the Department of Defense.”

Hergus, who Trump has sometimes called “war minister”, expressed a similar view, saying the change would reflect a wider cultural shift within the Pentagon.
