Comer needs answers about the cost of taxpayers for illegal immigration to healthcare

First on Fox: James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, asked for answers to taxpayer costs for illegal immigration.

The letters to eight blue governors and their health departments were a move to get more information on the issue, as the Congressional Budget Office estimated that the Congressional Budget Office spent $16.2 billion on “emergency services funded by Medicaid Funds,” according to the release.

In the letter, Comer requests information about who can participate in the state Medicaid and the Emergency Medicaid program, as well as lists and costs related to actions carried out by illegal immigrants.

“Specifically, the committee is investigating waste, fraud and abuse in several Medicaid programs because of the failure of the Biden administration to enforce U.S. immigration laws and expanding the benefits of illegal foreigners,” Comer wrote.

The letters were sent to the California State Government. Gavin NewsomIllinois Governor JB Pritzker, Colorado Governor Jared Polis, Maine Governor Janet Mills, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and the health department of each of the eight states. The “document and communication” that Comer wants dates back to January 2019. The deadline for cooperation is September 17.

In addition to asking for more information, Comer specifically asked Walz to be a former 2024 Democratic vice presidential candidate who explained a statement with the “Sanctuary Governor” at a congressional oversight hearing on June 12.

“I don’t have a exact number. It’s not Medicaid,” the Democratic governor said at the hearing.

“Governor Walz’s statement could be misleading under the procedural relationship between Minnesota’s Medicaid program, also known as Medical Assistance (MA), its rival Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA) and Minnesota’s program,” Comer wrote.

“In addition, the Commission has learned that Minnesota has established funds for the EMA and Minnesota program, which could enable federal funds to cover illegal immigration under the Minnesota program,” he continued.
