Egyptian man kicks customs dog airdrop at Washington DC airport

An Egyptian national pleaded guilty after kicking a customs dog so hard that it became airborne at an airport in Washington, D.C., authorities said.

Hamed Ramadan Bayoumy Aly Marie, 70, pleaded guilty to kicking the hound Freddie.

Authorities said he kicked the dog after he allegedly found more than 100 pounds (45 kilograms) of banned food in his luggage.

Mary was ordered to pay Freddy’s veterinary bills and was deported back to Egypt.

The incident started earlier Tuesday in the luggage claim area of ​​the airport, outside Washington, Virginia.

Federal criminal complaints say Freddie and his handling staff were roaming the area around 06:30 local time when the dog warned a baggage flying from Cairo.

The complaint said Hamed Aly Marie, who owned the bag, briefly spoke with CBP officials before kicking Freddie “so hard that he was lifted off the ground.”

Still images of the surveillance footage inside the airport show the dog on his hind legs, the other in the air, with his ears standing up.

Freddy, who weighed 25 pounds (11 kg), was taken to the veterinary emergency room and found a contusion in his right rib area, CBP said.

Hamed Aly Marie’s luggage was searched and authorities found beef, rice, eggplant, cucumber, pepper, corn seeds and herbs, according to the CBP.

Such products may carry diseases that may harm native plants and animals and prove difficult to eliminate a country.

Hamed Aly Marie pleaded guilty to one offence against an animal used by law enforcement during the initial court appearance Wednesday. He was sentenced to time for serving his sentence and was ordered to pay for the animal’s veterinary bill, which court records show is $840.

Hamed Aly Marie was evacuated from the U.S. on Thursday afternoon and flew back to Egypt after a court hearing, according to the CBP.
