Before finding yourself at the center of college football, Ryan Day And his wife Ninaonly two kids play big balls in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Day, 45, is now head coach for Ohio State Buckeyes, who married Nina in June 2005 recently reviewed their age together in the Northeast.
In an interview with Columbus in August 2024 WBNS 10TVNina said she and Ryan grew up in Manchester, “a mile and a half each other.” They went to the same elementary school, middle school, high school and college, and Ryan and Nina all went to the University of New Hampshire, where Ryan was the quarterback of the football team.
“We saved a note – I think I’m from seventh grade – I wrote it, and I said I’m going to marry Ryan,” Nina said. “We’ve always been best friends.”
Nina even took out a picture since 1985 when they were in the same youth serve. “This is Ryan, this is my twin sister Kelly, that’s me,” she pointed out.
Before Ryan was appointed head coach at Ohio State in 2018, his coaching career took him and his growing family – he and Nina were parents to his sons RJ And daughter grace and Nia – Around the country, stop from colleges at schools like Boston College and Temple to work for the Philadelphia Hawks and the 49ers NFL coaches.
“In 15 years, we moved 11 times,” Nina told WBNS. “At that time, we had 3 kids. So, that’s a lot. From the year we got married, it was probably the year we arrived at Ohio State, every year or every two years we moved. It was very unstable for a long time.”

2005

Ryan and Nina got married when they were graduate assistants at the University of Florida.
“We dated, and then once we graduated from college, we were back and the rest was history,” Nina told WBNS.
She added: “He always has a level of comfort. We are still best friends. I think it’s the best way to get married. You’re with your best friends every day.”
2009
The couple welcomed their first child, Son Ryan Jr. (RJ, RJ) during Ryan’s extensive catch coach at Boston College.
Nina admits that it’s not always easy for her son to grow up as a coach.
“From first to fifth grade, he set up one school in one state and ended in another in another,” she told WBNS. “He was in seven different primary schools.”
“But that makes him more resilient,” she added.
RJ is busy following in his father’s footsteps at Desales High School in Columbus, Ohio.
2011

Ryan and Nina welcomed their first daughter, Grace, while Day still works at Boston College.
2014
The couple welcomed their third child daughter, Nia, to return to Boston College one day to become the school’s offensive coordinator because they were offensive coordinators at Temple University for one season.
2020

Ryan lived with Nina and his three children for three months, during an interactive college football season to minimize the threat of contagion.
“It’s not easy,” Nina told Columbus dispatch In January 2021. “I can plan and look forward to the next week or the next three to four games. This year, we’re actually only alive every hour. I mean, every hour comes out and whenever I see my husband’s name on my phone, I’m holding my breath because I think I think, ‘Oh, OK, OK?”
Nina frankly admits that her husband has struggled even harder in the house after the Big Ten paused the start of the season after the pandemic.
“That were very tough weeks,” Nina said. “Even if he was his first day in school for the first time ever, even if he could get the kids’ football and football game and pick them up from school on weekends, it was a huge gap. Those weeks were very difficult around Ryan.”
2023
