Will Democrats learn from the victory of Zohran Mamdani? |Bernie Sanders

The Democrats are at a crossroads.

It can continue to push policies that maintain a broken and manipulated economic and political system without ignoring the pain of 60% of Americans. It can reject the dreams of the younger generation and if we don’t change the system, it could be worse than parents.

It can continue to depend on billionaires’ donors and campaign advisers at extramarital scenes and spend a lot of money on 30 seconds of stupid ads, with fewer and fewer people responding to it.

It can ignore this tragic reality that thousands of Americans are giving up democracy because they cannot see the government understand the reality of their struggles and lives or do anything about it.

Or you can learn such a lesson Zohran Mamdani The campaign taught us on Tuesday.

That is:

Have the courage to solve the real economic and moral issues facing most of our people, taking on the greed and power of the oligarchs, and striving for an agenda that can improve working-family life.

Some might claim that Mamdani’s victory is just the style, and that he is a charismatic candidate. Yes. He is. But without the extraordinary grassroots you wouldn’t have won Mamdani’s victory move That gathered around him. And, you won’t get this movement, where thousands of enthusiastic people knock on the door without an economic agenda, which speaks to the needs of workers. New Yorkers and all Americans know that in the wealthiest country on the planet, they don’t have to pay rent or pay medical expenses every day for putting food on the table. These are people that democratic consultants don’t know.

Mamdani has been criticized for her “radical” and “unrealistic” economic policies:

It is required that the wealthy and large corporations begin to pay their taxable share in times of unprecedented income and wealth inequality.

Request that rent should be frozen when many New Yorkers no longer find affordable housing.

It is required that when working, it will cause huge losses to workers’ salaries, and public transportation should be free.

It is required that publicly owned neighborhood grocery stores should be created when many low-income and workers cannot get quality food there for themselves and their children.

These ideas and more are not radical. They may not be what billionaires, wealthy campaign contributors and real estate speculators want, but they are what workers want. Maybe, maybe it’s time to listen to them.

Mamdani’s victory has nothing to do with “planet”. This is very important with people’s power, aiming to revitalize democracy and control the decisions that affect their lives for ordinary people.

Importantly, he has not escaped the ethical issues of New York and across the country: the need to end the U.S. military support for the Israeli right-wing extremist Benjamin Netanyahu government, which is destroying the Gaza people and starving their children to death. Mamdani knows that anti-Semitism is a disgusting and dangerous ideology, but the inhuman policy criticism of the Netanyahu government is not anti-Semitism.

The lesson from the Mamdani campaign is that it is not good enough to just criticize Trump and his destructive policies. We must present a positive vision and analyze what things look like. This is not enough to keep the status quo of failures for most Americans. As supply gets shorter and shorter, one must have a feeling that if we work together and if we have the courage to assume strong special interests, we can create a better world – a world of economic, social, racial and environmental justice.

Will the current Democratic leader learn from the Mandani movement? Probably not. Too many of them would rather be the captain of the sunken Titanic than change the course.

Again, their thoughts are OK. The agency threw out everything they had about Mamdani – super PAC currency, “significant figures”, hostile media recognition, they were still lost.

The Democratic Party’s future will not depend on its current leadership. This will be decided by the working class in this country. People are increasingly aware that our political system is corrupt and that billionaires should not be able to buy elections. They know that we should not have unprecedented income and wealth inequality. We should not be the only rich country that does not guarantee health care for all; we should not deny the right of young people to higher education because of income; we should not encounter major crises in affordable housing; we should not have a minimum wage that is hungry; we should not allow companies to illegally prevent union organizations, or even more.

The American people began to stand up and fight back. We have seen a lot of turnout attracting in many oligarchs we have conducted nationwide. We have seen among the millions of people coming out of Kingless rally in almost every state this month. Yesterday, we saw this in the Democratic primary in New York City.

We must move forward. No one will stop us.
