Cassidy argued Thursday that “serious allegations about the meeting agenda, membership and lack of scientific processes are being announced in September. [Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices] Meeting. ”
“These decisions directly affect the health of children and meetings should not occur until a large amount of supervision is conducted,” Cassidy said. “If the proceeds of the meeting, any advice should be rejected because there is a lack of legitimacy given the severity of the allegations and the current turmoil in the CDC leadership.”
Daskalakis posted his reason for resigning on X, accusing him of “unable to serve in an environment that sees the CDC as a tool for developing policies and materials that do not reflect scientific reality and are designed to harm rather than improve public health”.

Meanwhile, Sanders demanded a congressional investigation into the Trump administration’s decision to fire Monares.
“We need leaders who are committed to improving public health and have the courage to support science, rather than officials who spread false conspiracy theories and false information,” Sanders said Thursday.
HHS did not immediately respond to a request for comment about this story.
